Self-Profile Update enables configuring different screens for different user types or groups. For example, the students in a university need to see and edit certain profile attributes in Self-Service _ My Profile tab. Administrators in the same university need to see and edit additional profile attributes. This can be achieved by setting different screens for the different user groups, in this example Students and Administrator user groups.
See "Self-Profile Update" under the section Self-Service Details, for information on how to create multiple rules in the Self-Profile Update configuration.
Self-Profile Update
Self-Profile Update configuration enables specifying different user interface screens for the different user groups selected. Each user rule must have a user group and a corresponding priority and User Info Screen specified. The User Info Screen can be configured that will display to each user when logging in to Self-Service - Login _ My Profile tab.
Note: For the Self-Profile Update screens, the approval rule is configured as a configuration option in Admin UI _ Configuration tab _ Configuration _ Modify Configuration for _ Self-Service _ Profile Management Approval Rule - Self Requestor.
If the Identity administrator tries to make an attribute in the Self-Profile Update screen Approval Required, then a check is made to find if the approval rule is specified for the configuration option Profile Management Approval Rule - Self Requestor. If it does not exist, then an error message is shown that specifies that they must have an approval rule configured first. If the Identity administrator tries to remove an approval rule that is in use by the Self-Profile Update screen, an error message is displayed specifying that they must first remove the Approval Required option from all attributes on those screens before they can remove the approval rule.
To create a Self-Profile Update configuration
- From the Admin UI _ Self-Service tab _ Function Menu, click Self-Profile Update.
- Click the Default configuration. The Self-profile Update configuration Detail (Update) page displays.

Pre-Process Workflow for Profile Update
Specify a workflow to run before self profile update. The Deployed Workflow List page displays workflows deployed with type LookUp. The Pre-Process workflow should start and end with a ProvisioningHub and anything in between.
The Pre-Process workflow supports both FUP mapped and non-FUP mapped attributes. The output data from the Pre-Process workflow will be stored in a file under:
<Provisioning_Share_Folder>\ss-instance\preprocess\<org_id>\<request_id>\<req_bene_rel_id>_data.xml.
The attribute information stored in the XML will be merged with FISC_USER_PROFILE table (workflow data has higher precedence than the user data) to pass to the policy and resource workflows.Note: When the request gets completed successfully, the <request_id> folder (under <Provisioning_Share_- Folder>\ss-instance\ preprocess\<org_id>) will be deleted.
In the case of failed requests, the <request_id> folder will be deleted as part of the janitor cleanup process.
